VILLAGE SQUARE LEARNING

Childhood development is a process which prepares children to meet the challenges of adolescence and adulthood through a coordinated, progressive series of activities and experiences which help them to become socially, morally, emotionally, physically, and cognitively competent. Village Square Learning’s positive proactive initiatives address the broader developmental needs of children, in contrast to deficit-based models which focus solely on youth problems. Elements of our plan promoting positive development of children include:

Building ongoing relationships with caring adults — parents, mentors, or teachers

Creating safe places with structured activities during non-school hours

Facilitating a healthy start to a positive future through effective education and development of marketable life-skills
